All teenagers at one point or another will have “the big game” or that one important test, such as the SAT or ACT, that they’ll have to practice, study, and work hard at in order to persevere. For example, Michael Phelps, being the greatest swimmer to ever step on the Earth, trained three times a day, six times a week, and twice on Sunday. Phelps had a goal to set the record for most top-3-finishes at the Olympics, so he worked harder than anyone person on the planet. By having an I-can-and-I-will attitude, perseverance to excel in a sport can teach hard work and discipline in life. In addition, Michael, being 18,will be taking his college entry test, or SAT, and he has been in the books as much as a cow eats grass. Michael has a yearning to do the best he can do in order to make a perfect score: a 32. In order to do this, Michael has studied at home, at school, even in the car if he can. Because of this, hard work, dedication, and a good work ethic is important in persevering and being successful.

Through it all, Elie Wiesel persevered and conquered the brutality of the camp in order to survive. Through the “why me?” times, the importance of perseverance will allow you to conquer the tough times. In addition, Jessie’s parents were fighting about everything. Money, jobs, and even Jessie, everything they said they fought about. Her parents got divorced, however Jessie was sad, she fought through, persevered, and conquered her parent’s divorce. Therefore, through the why-does-this-have-to-be-me times, by persevering, hard times can be conquered.
